We sew educational toys for children. Educational toys you can make with your own hands

Educational book for children – wonderful project which will bring joy and benefit to any child! Please your children with this book or sew a wonderful gift for an expectant or young mother. We will tell you in detail how to sew an educational book with your own hands and provide you with a pattern of the main parts.

Educational book: choice of materials and design options

How to sew an educational book for a child with your own hands? From a sewing technique standpoint, even beginners can do this project. However, be prepared to spend a lot of time, and also be patient and careful!

The easiest way is to sew an educational book from felt and materials whose edges do not fray (fleece, some furniture fabrics, suede, leather, etc.). This will save you from the need to overcast the edges of the parts, which will significantly save time. However, most of these materials are solid colors, so we recommend adding at least a few backgrounds and printed fabric details to bring the book to life.

If you use thin fabric, strengthen it additionally with non-woven fabric. The pages of the book must be quite dense, so each of them will need a layer of reinforcing material. It can be a border or a tarpaulin, and even thin plastic, if your machine can handle sewing it.

We used Velcro to secure the removable elements. These can also be sewn or punched buttons and magnets. The book can be fastened with a buckle, magnet or carabiner.

There are several ways to bind educational books. We will tell you how to sew a book binding from fabric - this is the simplest, although not the most quick way. You can, for example, install eyelets on each page and connect them together with special rings, which are sold in scrapbooking departments. This binding will allow you to later add new pages to the book.

Draw a sketch of your book in advance and think about what accessories you will use. If you are sewing a book for a very young child (under 3 years old), avoid small details. For example, in our book, on the page with the seasons, instead of making several small circles with leaves or snow, you can make the crown of the tree one large detail.

Pages with a clock and a game of tic-tac-toe are also designed for children over 3 years old. In order to plan your own pages, we recommend using the Internet, where you will find many options for designing a book using words such as “Developmental book” or “quite book”.

So, let's sew an educational book for a child with our own hands!

Pattern and cutting

Print the pattern on A4 sheet. Cut out the pieces.

Our book has a size of 15x20 cm in order to use half of an A4 felt sheet as a background for 1 page. Cut out 6 background pieces and 2 cover pieces without allowances. Cut out the reinforcing parts: 1 for each sheet if you are using plastic or other dense material, or 1 for each page if you are using a thinner seal.

Please note that all elements must be spaced 1cm from the edge for subsequent edging!

"Seasons" page

Cut out a free-form outline of the tree from brown felt, fitting it into the outline of the page. The width of the tree trunk is 2 cm. For the same design, cut out two 6x20 cm rectangles for pockets. Cut three circles A, one circle B and one piece C from four different materials: light green, dark green, white and orange (spring, summer, winter and autumn).

For spring foliage, cut out several white circles of different sizes, maximum 1 cm in diameter. For summer foliage - a few red apples or other fruits, if desired. For the sun, cut out one circle A and one circle D from bright yellow material. You can also cut out the moon or cloud from appropriate materials.

For each detail (except for wood and pockets), cut out an exact copy of it from additional material to which Velcro will be sewn. These lower parts may be different color, to save material and recycle scraps.

Lacing page

Cut out the soles of the shoes using the cut out pattern. For the second sole, turn the pattern over in a mirror image. Then cut off the sock and cut out the inner oval, cut the resulting piece along a straight line on the pattern. Cut out two mirrored “toes” of the shoes, adding a 0.5 cm allowance along the bottom edge.

Cut out the cut out part of the top of the shoes 4 times, mirroring them in pairs, so that you get a double-sided part for the right and left shoes.

"Sorter" page

Cut out 4 geometric figures made of material of different colors (square, cross, triangle and circle D). In the background part, cut out the shapes corresponding to the pattern; the cut out parts will become the basis for the removable elements. At the top, cut a 1cm wide zip pocket outline. Cut a 15cm wide x 30cm long rectangle from the fabric that will be the backdrop for the details and the lining of the pocket, best in contrast to the main background of the page.

"Puzzle" page

Draw a square with a side of 12 cm and draw a grid with 2x2 cm cells in it. Arbitrarily place geometric shapes (squares, stripes and polygons) on this grid, filling the entire plane. Cut out the shapes and use this pattern to cut multi-colored parts, as well as the bottom of these parts, from any material. Cut out a rectangle pocket 6x15 cm.

"Tic Tac Toe" page

For the chips, cut out 10 circles A from white material and 10 circles for the bottom of the chips of any color. You will also need 4 13cm long suede strips, or you can just stitch to outline the playing field. From red and black material, cut out 5 crosses and 5 zeros. You can also embroider these symbols with thick thread.

"Clock" page

Cut out 2 arrows from white material and 2 arrows from black material. Trim the black arrows a little along the contour so that when applied, the white edge peeks out.

For the dial, cut out 12 circles A from white material and 12 circles from dark (for example gray) material. It is advisable to make the lower parts the same color, as they will become the color of the numbers. Cut out a piece for a pocket 5x15 cm.

COVERS AND BINDING

For the front cover, cut out 5 circles D from materials of different colors and textures. If desired, cut three pieces of multi-colored ribbon 7 cm each.

For the upper part of the binding, cut out a 10x6-7 cm rectangle. For the inside of the binding, cut out a 9x20 cm rectangle (for the same number of pages as in the example). If you are using frayed material, add a hem allowance.

To tie, cut two 30 cm ribbons. For edging, you will need straight or bias tape. You can use ready-made binding 2 cm wide or cut out ribbons 3.5-4 cm wide and a length equal to the perimeter of the page.

Also prepare:

  • Velcro 1 cm wide (about 30 cm each in white and black, can be the same color)
  • Zipper length 15 cm
  • Nonwoven
  • Buttons, beads
  • Threads, cords, ribbons
  • Eyelets

"Seasons" page

Sew the red apples onto the dark green pieces. Sew the Velcro squares (the soft part) onto the bottom circles. Connect the bottom and top parts with a stitch along the contour.

Hand-sew white “flowers” onto the light green parts using white thread. Using yellow thread, embroider the centers on large “Flowers”. Sew the Velcro squares (the soft part) onto the bottom circles. Connect the bottom and top parts with a stitch along the contour.

Sew “winter” white circles with their lower parts on Velcro. Using the same principle, complete the details in autumn colors.

For the sun, cut out rays on a larger circle, as shown in the photo. Sew Velcro onto the bottom circle. Place the piece with the rays between the bottom and top pieces and stitch along the contour of the top circle.

Stitch the wood detail in the center of the page. Try on the foliage and sew the second halves of the Velcro (harder, with hooks) to the desired places. Also sew on Velcro for the sun in the upper right corner.

Make a buttonhole on the pocket pieces. Fold the pieces to form a pocket with a flap and stitch along the sides to the page, placing the pockets on either side of the barrel. The bottom edge of the pockets should be spaced 1 cm from the edge! Sew on the buttons.

Lacing page

Sew the top and bottom parts for the right and left shoes in pairs along the inner contour, as shown in the photo. Punch holes and install eyelets for lacing.

Place the soles of the shoes on the page taking into account the background pattern, if there is one, and pin it. Place the “toes” of the shoes on top and pin them as well. With the topmost layer, pin the parts with eyelets and sew along the contour with a straight stitch or zigzag (depending on the type of material used).

"Sorter" page

Sew geometric shapes from two parts, sew Velcro to the bottom part in advance.

Pin the lining to the page and stitch along the outline of the cut out shapes and the bottom edge of the zipper. Sew the Velcro along the center of the outline.

At 5-6 cm, fold the fabric back up and pin it to the top edge of the page.

Sew along the sides and top edge of the zipper, as well as along the sides of the pocket itself, covering the sides of the pocket lining.

"Puzzle" page

Make geometric shapes - puzzle pieces. Sew Velcro onto the lower parts. On long parts, sew several Velcro strips or one large one.

Sew the pocket along the bottom edge. If desired, decorate the pocket with eyelets and lace with buttons and beads.

"Tic Tac Toe" page

Stitch the lines of the playing field using suede lace or stitch with black thread. Sew two strips of Velcro on the top.

Sew Velcro onto the bottom, and stitch the top and bottom along the edge.

"Clock" page

Stitch the arrow parts. Cut out the outlines of numbers from 1 to 12 on twelve white circles. Sew Velcro to the bottom parts, and stitch the cut out circles with numbers on top.

Step back 7.5 cm from the top edge and sew arrows in the center of the page, placing the smaller arrow on top. On the front side, thread the thread through the bead or button, and then reinsert the needle into the same hole. On the wrong side, pass the thread through a small flat button. This mount will allow the hands to rotate.

Sew a pocket at the bottom.

Covers

On the back cover, draw the alphabet with chalk or soap and stitch the letters along the outline with colored thread.

Sew colored circles on the front cover and a button with beads in the center.

At the bottom, pin multi-colored ribbons folded in loops, and stitch a piece of felt on top.

Binding

Fold the pages in pairs and pin them together. Sew along the edge.

Prepare the facings. Fold the cut strips in half and iron. Then unfold and fold the edges to the ironed line of the middle and iron too.

Unfold the facings and pin right sides together with the edges of the pages. Start pinning the facing from the middle of the long side of the page, on the side where the binding will later be - then the joint of the facings will close.

Pin, aligning the edges of the facing and the page all the way to the corner, then fold the facing at a right angle and continue on the other side.

Sew along the entire edge to the width of the facing fold (approximately 7 mm). Bring the stitch to the corner and, turning it at 45 degrees, bring it to the edge. Trim and start stitching again near the corner.

Turn the facing over to the other side of the page and, turning it under, pin it to the base. Sew the facing by hand using a blind stitch, folding the corners to one side.

Insert ribbons for tying into the cover pages under the facing. Tie knots at the free ends of the ribbon. Topstitching can be done if desired.

Take the rectangular inner binding piece (the larger rectangle). If necessary, hem the long sides. Back off 6cm and pin with the second sheet of the book, placing the binding in the center of the page, covering the edges of the facings. Fold the binding around the edge of the page and pin it.

Sew close to the edge of the page. Use the zipper foot.

Step back from this page at least 3 cm (if the page is very thick with protruding parts, step back more) and attach the next page in the same way.

Now attach the covers to the binding without bending the fabric. Stitch and trim off excess.

We sew up the top part of the carrots together with the tops made of green fleece. We sew an elastic band and a brown fabric basket onto the page. For the pyramid, place adhesive tape on the page in the center. We sew small blocks to which we attach Velcro on the bottom side.

Step three: make a flower meadow. Cut out a flower, a twig and a leaf from fleece and sew it on with a hidden seam. We do not sew up the top of the flower; a bee will live there. At the bottom of the flower we leave a small hole for the lace with the caterpillar. At the bottom of the page we sew grass from braid. We cut out the butterfly and sew it on as shown in the diagram.

We sew a bee from yellow velor, decorate it with black braid, sew a cord with a caterpillar onto it and place it in a flower, pulling the caterpillar out through the bottom of the flower. Why you need to develop fine motor skills

Many people are aware of the need for development fine motor skills children with early age. However, not everyone understands why this is needed and what such activities are.

Fine motor skills are the ability to perform precise movements with the hands and fingers. It is coordinated by the work of the nervous, muscular, skeletal and visual systems. Its development begins in the first months of a child’s life with looking at his own fingers and hands. Then the baby gradually learns to master them by picking up toys. Motor skills have a positive effect on manual dexterity, the formation of a student’s future handwriting, and reaction speed.

It has been established that the level of development of a child’s speech directly depends on the degree of formation of finger movements. In the human brain, the centers responsible for speech and motor skills are located nearby. Thus, when one area is stimulated, the other is also activated.

Sensory bags

Sewing sensory bags with your own hands is not difficult at all. You will need thick fabric of different colors and textures and filler, which can be used as:

  • pasta (spirals, shells, bows, tubes);
  • cereals (millet, buckwheat, pearl barley, rice, oats);
  • flour and starch;
  • legumes (beans, peas, soybeans, beans, corn);
  • sweets;
  • nuts;
  • natural materials (acorns, chestnuts, shells, pebbles);
  • erasers of different shapes;
  • cotton wool or padding polyester;
  • buttons and beads.

These bags are easy to make yourself, even without a sewing machine. Filling can be placed not only in fabric: dense Balloons Tactile perception can be developed not only with the help of filler, but also by using fabrics of different textures Bags can be of different colors and sizes

Touch Cube

This toy is a cube, on the sides of which there are three-dimensional objects of different shapes and shades or applications made of various materials.

How to make a cube to develop fine motor skills

To make a sensory cube with your own hands, you will need:

  • small pieces of fabric of different textures and colors;
  • synthetic winterizer or foam rubber as filler;
  • interlining;
  • decorative elements (buttons, ribbons, ropes, rings, remnants of fabric, iron-on stickers);
  • threads;
  • iron;
  • sewing machine.

From scraps of fabric (it can be cotton, silk, velvet and others) you need to cut out 6 squares with edges of the same size.

You need to cut squares from non-woven fabric with a side 1–1.5 cm smaller than from fabric. Non-woven blanks are placed on fabric ones and ironed - both parts will stick together, receive a rigid structure and will keep their shape well.

Each square is designed in accordance with an idea: these can be figurines of animals and birds, geometric shapes made of fur or felt, iron-on stickers, buttons, clasps and much more.

When the design is finished, you need to sew 4 squares into one strip.

The two remaining blanks are sewn to one of the squares at the top and bottom.

The seams are made along the contour of the non-woven edges and then secured. Next, the development is sewn together to form a cube.

On the last edge in the corner you need to leave a small hole and carefully turn the cube out through it. The toy is filled with foam rubber or padding polyester and sewn with a hidden seam. You can also place rustling paper or a bell in the cube along with the filler.

Tactile pillow

Sensory (tactile) pillows are suitable for babies from 2–3 months to 3 years. It all depends on the set of elements that are placed on it. A small amount is suitable for the little ones simple materials. Before giving such a toy to a child, you need to make sure that all the elements are firmly attached: if the baby pulls one of them into his mouth, it should not come off.

For children from 1 year old, you can select and sew on more diverse and complex educational items: zippers, buttons, lacing, Velcro, bows and ropes that can be tied and pulled. You can make such a toy by using a ready-made pillow and sewing a pillowcase with decorative elements for it.

Photo gallery: sensory pillows of different shapes

This pillow is suitable for babies from 2-3 months. For the image on each of the squares, you can use a fabric of different texture This pillow is suitable for children from 1 year. It presents more complex elements: buttons, ribbons, bows, Velcro, clasp This turtle has several sides, each of which contains different developmental elements: carabiner, lacing, buttons. It is suitable for children from two years old

DIY pillow for developing fine motor skills

You can sew such a pillow at home.

To make it you will need:

  • fabric - green (53x30 cm) and blue (83x20 cm);
  • non-woven fabric (53×50 cm);
  • fabric for the back side (50x55 cm);
  • felt of different colors and floss threads to match;
  • zipper 50 cm long;
  • Velcro, buttons, braid, ribbons, hat elastic;
  • Whatman paper, pencil;
  • scissors;
  • threads, needles and pins for sewing;
  • pillow 45x50 cm.

Before you start sewing, you need to make a life-size sketch of the future pillow. You can use stencils for this.

Blue fabric is cut into two strips (the first - 30x20 cm for the pocket, the second - 53x20 cm for the base). A piece of green fabric and a blue flap prepared for the base are duplicated in size by non-woven fabric. The cutout for the pocket is folded in half.

A sun is made from yellow felt and ribbons: a circle with a diameter of 10 cm and 7–8 strips, each 10 cm long.

A felt sun with ribbon rays folded in half is pinned to the blue fabric prepared for the pocket.

The parts are sewn together sewing machine or by hand with small, neat stitches.

The elements of the main part (blue and green) and the pocket are connected together.

The base made of green fabric is located at the bottom, and the base made of blue fabric is located at the top. A pocket with a sun is placed in the upper left corner

Then the base and non-woven backing are pinned together and then stitched together.

Elements from the drawn sketch are cut out of felt.

“Felt waves” connect with each other. For each fish you need two parts (can be of different colors) and an elastic band 10–15 cm long

Elastic bands with knots tied at the ends are placed between the elements of the fish and sewn together. The waves are laid out on the base (1–1.5 cm away from the edges for seam allowances).

Multi-colored fish are placed between the waves and fixed. The river elements are stitched first at the bottom, then along the entire perimeter.

The next element is wood. For each of them you need two crown blanks, one trunk and several apples or pears. The parts are sewn together, while the fruit is located inside between two crowns, and the trunk remains on top.

The blank for the railway is made of gray felt. Its size is 53x5 cm.

The railway is placed on a green clearing, which already has a river and trees.

To make a steam locomotive and a trailer, you will also need two elements each. The front parts are decorated using felt of different colors (wheels, windows, pipe). The parts are sewn at the top. A small button is attached to the back edge of the train, and a small loop of ribbon is attached to the trailer. A 50 cm long ribbon is threaded through the unsewn edge, and knots are tied at the ends. The structure is located on the railway and fixed.

Clouds are made from blue felt - also two elements each. Through them, like through a train, a braid is passed, the ends of which are sewn to the blue part of the base.

Flowers are cut out of felt of different colors, Velcro is used for the middle, and placed on a green clearing next to the river. The seam is made along the edge of the Velcro, and the petals remain free.

Following the example of fish, a butterfly and a bee are made. Velcro is sewn onto the back of each figure so that insects can land on the flowers.

A lock is sewn into the middle of the piece of fabric that was chosen for the back of the pillowcase.

The front and back parts of the pillowcase are folded with the right sides inward and sewn around the perimeter, leaving seam allowances (1-1.5 cm on each side).

If you wish, you can make figurines of animals that will ride on the train. You can draw faces on them with a marker.

The pillowcase is ready. The baby can play with it, placing animals in a trailer, rolling a train along the rails, planting insects on flowers, looking for fruits on trees.

Testoplasty

Effectively promotes the development of motor ability of fingers. Plasticine, which all parents are familiar with since childhood, is dangerous to give to a one-year-old baby, because he tastes everything. Ordinary dough comes to the rescue. You can prepare it yourself from safe ingredients.

Play dough recipe

For it you will need finely ground salt and water (one part each), flour (2 parts).

  1. Combine salt and flour in a deep bowl, add water.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Knead the mixture to the consistency of soft plasticine.

If after cooking the dough sticks to your hands, you can add salt and flour to it (observing the proportion). If you get a crumbly texture, just increase the amount of water.
If your baby loves to sculpt, you can make a lot of dough at once. You need to store it in the refrigerator, pinching off the “working” pieces as needed. But such material should not be stored for a long time - over time, the dough loses its elasticity. For older children, you can add food coloring during the cooking process. After drying, the dough figures become hard and durable. They can be colored and used for games.

Photo gallery: do-it-yourself dough figurines

You can make such a basket together with your baby - it’s a fun, creative and useful activity.
You can make figures of your child’s favorite animals from the dough. Dried crafts can be painted acrylic paints From the figures you can create whole pictures and use them to decorate a child’s room.

Collapsible elements

Playing with small details develops motor skills very well.

Felt coats

All large parts on such samples (pockets, sleeves and even the collar) are removable. The child himself will be able to create interesting models by combining colors. Such toys are suitable for children from two years old.

Math strings

When your baby begins to show interest in numbers, you can offer him math strings. They not only develop fine motor skills well, but also help to learn counting.

Lacing

Such devices are great for improving the motor activity of fingers and arms. After all, you don’t just need to take a multi-colored rope - it must fall into a small hole.

Simple lacing can be made from any safe surface: a wooden plank, a plastic lid or regular thick cardboard. On them, using a screwdriver heated on a candle or an awl, you need to make holes with a diameter of 5 mm in a random order.

An even easier way to keep your child busy with lacing is to use a colander.

More complex lacing can be made in any shape. This will require a little more time, imagination and material.

Sorters

Sorters, in addition to fine motor skills, allow you to develop perseverance, attentiveness and intelligence in your baby. Making them yourself is also possible, although a little more difficult than lacing or mathematical laces.

For the sorter you will need a cardboard box and several small toys of different shapes. On one side of the box you need to cut holes corresponding to the shapes of the selected items, only a little larger in size.

Educational stands - universal didactic devices

An educational stand can combine elements of all the described items and games.

To make such a board, you can attach any items that you find in the house to a sheet of fiberboard or an unnecessary tabletop:

  • bolts,
  • locks,
  • sockets with plugs attached to them,
  • switches of different sizes and shapes,
  • door hooks,
  • bolts,
  • coat hooks,
  • old rotary telephone
  • bell on a string,
  • glockenspiel.

Over time, existing items can be replaced with new ones, maintaining the child’s interest in the game.

Educational books

Educational books are a great pleasure for children of any age, starting from the moment when the child can sit independently.

Foot massage mat

Fine motor skills are the development of not only hands, but also toes. Orthopedists talk about the positive effect of a child walking barefoot on different surfaces. In summer it is easier to do this - you can walk on sand, grass, pebbles. And in other seasons, miracle rugs will come in handy: small flat stones, plastic bottle caps, buttons and much more are sewn or glued onto thick fabric.

The development of fine motor skills in a child is possible without expensive store-bought toys. There are always many objects in the house that are interesting to children. Joint family creativity gives an amazing feeling of closeness, and the child’s delight and success are even more pleasing.

Educational toys are very useful for children of all ages. Let's learn to sew toys with numerous fasteners!

With all the variety of educational toys that are sold in the store, it’s so nice to make a toy for a child with your own hands! After all, here you can show all your imagination and do exactly what is ideal for your baby.

This is why the topic of DIY educational toys is so interesting for young mothers.

Today we will tell you how to make an educational toy with fasteners.

Examples of educational toys with fasteners

On the Internet you can find several options for such educational toys for children. The assembly principle is general: the toy is some kind of animal consisting of several elements: head, body, tail.

Dachshund

The elements are connected to each other using various fasteners: buttons, magnetic buttons, carabiners, lacing and adhesive (contact) tape.

The dachshund's head is attached to the body using adhesive tape

Body parts are connected using buttons

Lacing

In addition to developing fine motor skills, such a toy can be used to develop color perception (separate elements can be made from fabric of different colors, with stripes, checkered, polka dots), as well as for the development tactile sensations(use different fillers and fabrics of different textures).

Look at various options executions of this toy made by different authors:

Crocodile

Lizard

Caterpillar - centipede

Dog and giraffe

As you can see, various beads are additionally sewn on the dog’s back, with which you can teach your baby to count.

Fish

The peculiarity of this fish is that on its back the fins are made of grosgrain ribbon with different patterns. You can offer your child a game: “Find the same ribbons” or simply string loops of ribbons onto the fingers.

Cat

However, the toy does not have to be long. The author of this cat made it round, consisting of several sections.

Key points in creating an educational toy

So, if you decide to make such an educational toy with your own hands, then the first thing you need to decide is what kind of animal you will make.

After that, we select the material. Optimal: 4–5 different colors. Put them side by side and evaluate whether they fit together.

What do you need
1. Future owner.
2. Attitude (even a tiny and scared one will do)
3. Material.

And more details about each point.

Baby. This could be a very baby, 1-5 months. You can now sew. He won’t play or study yet, but he will be happy to watch and listen to what his mother says.

(or pirate, if added) gaming and educational can be used by children under 6-7 years old. For older children, we add secret pockets and complex lacing fasteners, labyrinths, and various places for dolls to stay. And you can’t drag the child away.

And if you gradually add to the book, for example, buy more parts or find something at home: parts from toys, old supplies from your own or loved ones, then the child will never get tired of such a toy.

The main thing is not to forget that for children under 3 years old (+-) a book with buttons and other elements is not an independent toy. Children bite off buttons (my Simon, when he was 8 months old, bit off all the buttons on his shirts), and suck up ribbons and fabrics (my sister’s daughter). Children are unpredictable creatures!

There’s another point that I often encounter. “My child looked at the book (toy) for 5 minutes and threw it away.”
Children do not know how to play and study if they are not taught. And they will play on their own as long and well as you teach them.

I will also try to write assignments from books.

The next point is Mood. I’ll tell you a secret, I often sit down to work without wild enthusiasm and with zero attitude. And, as you know, if there is no mood, there is no good result.

How to get inspired? Look at other people's work and imagine the happy owner of the toy.
You can firmly believe in everything you have in mind and even more!!

As they say, appetite comes while eating and working.

Clustered together are also a great inspiration for work. Materials. Of course, not everyone has a large supply and choice of fabric, accessories, etc.

This happened to me when I sewed the first book for my child. These were some scraps, very tiny, and some cotton fabrics; then I put together a nice-looking used one. For home use, used fabrics may be quite suitable. Of course, without losing color and shape. And it’s nice if these are fabrics of interesting textures: leather, faux leather, fur, fleece, corduroy, shiny fabrics and curtain remnants.

If you don’t have a sewing machine, this is not a reason to abandon the idea of sewing a baby toy.

It’s been seven years since I bought a sewing machine, I didn’t go near it, I thought it was a stupid one they slipped me in the store. Doesn't sew! Breaks needles! The threads are confused! And how to thread a thread was the same as figuring out the drawings of a rocket. That’s why I sewed by hand for many years. And I sewed the first book mainly by hand. Even now, most of my work has to be done manually.

How will we work?
I intended to sew a book in a marine theme with adjustments to different ages, but, as the survey showed, there is interest in classic stories as well. Therefore, I will give everything interspersed. Everyone can choose where their soul takes them. All topics will be in my Diary in the section MK soft books.

Since everyone has different tastes and wishes, I will first talk briefly about bindings (for now about appearance) and further I will talk about preparing pages for a specific type of binding.

I will update one post for each stage. For example, I posted Page "Sun" on Monday I wrote the beginning of what we are preparing, on Wednesday at the same Post added a continuation, completion on Friday. That is, everything is in one post. We also bring the finished pages there.

Pace of work tortoiseshell. I sew slowly myself, I spend a long time selecting fabrics, thinking through the colors so that they don’t repeat and how they will be combined in colors, texture, and where the buttons go. Therefore, we will work for a long time and, I hope, productively.

Homework You can find fabrics that you have in the house, you can look at used ones (unnecessary gloves, fleece items, curtains, appliqués from unnecessary children’s things, soft jeans, bags, etc.), accessories: buttons, braids, fasteners, You can also use used ones from things that no one will wear.

Of course, you will have to buy something in addition, but it’s better to look well at home, maybe not at home.

After you search the house, post your results. It’s also better to decide on the direction. For example, one of the girls wanted to combine a nautical theme with the score.

In general, let's start working! Good luck to us D/z (preferably in a photo) to all participants to submit before Tuesday
