What is dark powder used for?

There are questions on the Internet about what to do if the purchased powder turns out to be too dark. What if you initially set a goal - to buy a product of this shade? What you can do with it:

  1. Highlight cheekbones
Beautiful cheekbones are very seductive, but if they are not emphasized by nature, we can correct them with cosmetics. A little dark powder, blend everything with a light brush and see a stunning effect.
  2. Correct the face silhouette
The powder in question also allows you to make your face visually narrower. It looks attractive, your image will be inimitable. Simply apply the product to the skin and blend it properly.
By the way, you can also expand the oval of your face using this bulk product, so it is almost universal.
  3. Remove a square jaw
The effect of the so-called square jaw can be easily removed using the same dark powder. Cover the corners of your face with it and enjoy the result.
  4. Narrow your nose

If necessary, apply the product to the wings of the nose. But you have to be careful with this, otherwise the powder will be very noticeable.

In any case, when using dark powder, you need to take into account the shape of your face. Ideally, the product should not cover the entire skin; concentrate the blending only in certain areas.

Our online store sells high-quality cosmetics that will last on your face all day and make you feel amazing and look exactly the way you want.

A guide when choosing mineral powder PURECOLORS INC.

Which powder is best for you? ?

To answer this question, you must first determine your skin tone, since the color of the mineral foundation should be closest to your skin tone.

Makeup artists distinguish two main skin tones: warm and cool. There are several more obvious combinations of these basic tones. Peachy skin tones come from an equal mix of fairly vibrant shades of pink and gold. Olive in the skin occurs when adding a gray-green tint to pink peach tones. When none of the colors outweighs, then we can say that it is a neutral skin tone.

Below are a few simple steps to help youdetermine skin tone.

1. Vein test.

In natural light, look at the inside of your wrist, if your veins have a slightly greenish tint, this indicates the presence of yellow, warm undertones in your skin, and therefore you have a warm or peachy skin tone! Veins that look bluish or purple indicate a cool skin tone. If you can't say for sure what color your wrist veins are, then your skin tone is neutral. Olive tones may also suit you.

2.Test - Ponytail.

Again, in natural light, pull all the hair back from the face into a ponytail and thoroughly cleanse the face. Now either wrap a white cloth around your neck and shoulders or hold a thick white piece of paper to your forehead or chin area. Look carefully, or even better, call your husband or girlfriend to help you, and determine which shade of color predominates in your skin compared to white. If this yellow, then you are the owner of a warm skin tone. If the shade is bluish, the skin tone is cool. If, in addition to the obviously yellow ones, greenish shades also appear, then you should try olive mineral powders.

3. Silver/gold test.

What kind of jewelry suits you best? White metals like silver or platinum, or are you a fan of yellow gold. Apply a piece of gold foil to your face as in the previous test first. Your complexion looks healthy or has become ashy shade? Now apply silver foil, which shade predominates in your face, yellow or blue?

If, after performing all the above tests, you still cannot determine your skin tone, you most likely have a neutral skin tone.

Congratulations! This is the most comfortable skin tone! Powder manufacturers make the largest number of shades for it; it’s easiest for you to choose powder! Since almost all shades from warm to cool can suit you.

Determining the color gradation from light to dark of your skin is usually much easier. Moreover, this can change when tanning, for example. But the good thing about mineral cosmetics is that you can experiment with it. If you bought yourself too light powder, just add a little bronzer to it when using - and that’s it! If you bought a powder that is a little darker than you would like, you can dilute it by adding a small amount or the lightest base or white shadows, and you will also achieve the desired effect.

Purecolors Inc. mineral powder is divided into nine subgroups:
- four skin tones: neutral, warm, peach, cool and olive

- four gradations from light to dark: light, medium-light, medium and dark skin tones.
According to skin tone.

Cold tone

You have a cool skin tone if: Your skin is pink, beige, Brown. Your hair: soft shades of brown or ash blonde, maybe dark brown or black. Your eyes: blue, gray or black-brown. Such skin will be dominated by pink color with bluish (not greenish!) veins. You will look better in jewelry made of white metals (silver or platinum). Yours Wedding Dress should be the color of bright, white snow. When it comes to clothes or cosmetics, the best colors for you are pinks, berry mixes and spring shades (but you're not limited to pastels!).

The following colors are also suitable: fuchsia, blue, silver, white, black, green, blue-purple. A cool tone is most often present in a person with fair skin, who instantly burns in the sun, and only then tans and his skin acquires a bronze tint.

If you think you have a cool skin tone, check out these mineral powders: Light, Strawberry cookies, Mocha

You have a warm skin tone if: Your skin golden, yellow hue.Your hair ranges from golden blonde to coppery red-brown. INyour eyes: green or brown, maybe warm shades gray. Such skin will have a predominant yellowish color with greenish veins. You will look better in jewelry made of yellow metals (gold). Your wedding dress should be (should have been!?) a soft cream or ivory color. When it comes to clothing or cosmetics, the best colors for you are sunset colors and all fall shades.

The following colors are also suitable: peach, orange, olive, green, brown, copper, bronze. People with a warm skin tone, if it is light, can tan without burning, and when tanned their skin takes on a distinctly golden hue.

If you think you have warm skin tone, check out these mineral powders: Super Light, Butter, Peach Skin, Iris, Coffee, Rich

You may have a neutral skin tone. This means that you look equally good in cool and warm tones of clothing and makeup. Do you have a balance between warm and cool shade. Most women wear neutral shades. If you have neutral skin tone, then you should choose eyeshadow, blush and lipstick in one of the neutral shades. Mauve and all berry colors are considered neutral. Plum, lilac, and cranberry are also neutral. Coral and red colors are also considered neutrals. Coral and red colors include: peach, orange, brownish red, apricot.

Olive tone
This type of skin is dominated by yellow-pink and greenish tones. This type of skin may look slightly ashen or have a grayish tint. You can try olive tones of mineral powder if you have a neutral skin tone.

By gradation from light to dark.

If you are a fair-skinned beauty with transparent skin, if your skin can be called “porcelain” or “ivory,” then choose light shades of powder. The most important thing for you in makeup is, on the one hand, not to look too pale, on the other hand, the danger of overdoing it increases. Because it is on fair skin that excess makeup looks worst.

Most people fall into this category. If you cannot determine what type of skin you are (light or dark), then most likely you belong to the average type. Tanning fits well on such skin and almost does not burn.

MEDIUM_DARK SHADES
Bronze (tanned) skin: These people have a lot of pigment in their skin. They never get burned. This type of skin is found among Europeans, most often among Spaniards and Italians. Very common among Indians or light-skinned African-Americans.

Who among us has not been disappointed in purchased cosmetics? But do not rush to be upset if the product you purchased does not live up to your expectations. It is possible that the problem can be easily solved!

visagiste

Problem: The shade of the foundation was too light, but the texture was perfect.

Buy another foundation of the same texture, but a darker shade and mix them until you get the desired color. This way you will have perfect tone regardless of the season and whether you have a tan, since you can mix both products until you get the desired shade. And if you tan, you can use a darker shade separately.

Problem: the texture of the lipstick suits me, but I don’t like the shade

Tip: we do the same thing - mix it with other shades of lipstick of the same or as similar texture as possible. Also with two lipsticks different shades You can achieve the very popular ombre effect on lips today: first apply a darker shade to all lips, and then add a lighter one in the center and slightly blend the edges.

Problem: Shadows don't blend well

Apply a little powder and then shadow to the entire eyelid up to the eyebrow, blending the border. In the future, I recommend purchasing a base shade of eyeshadow, which should be slightly lighter than your skin tone, and applying it to the entire eyelid up to the eyebrow before applying the main shade of eyeshadow. Thanks to this trick, any shadows will be shaded into a soft haze. And by highlighting the space under the eyebrow with this shade, you will get a lifting effect and a more open look. The base shade is the basis of any makeup and the very thing you shouldn’t skimp on.

Problem: Liquid highlighter creases on skin

Make sure you apply it correctly. Do not apply it on powder under any circumstances. One of the main rules of makeup is not to mix dry and liquid textures. First we apply foundation, then liquid highlighter, and then lightly powder the face. Is the highlighter not applied on powder and still runs off? Then perhaps there is too much moisturizer on the skin. Before applying highlighter,
lightly blot your face with a napkin, removing excess cream or foundation from the skin.

Problem: Eyeliner is too light and too soft

Use it as a cream eyeshadow. Apply in short strokes all over the eyelid and blend gently with your fingers.

Problem: Cream eyeshadow is too dark

Use them as eyeliner. In addition, cream shadows are great for tinting eyebrows, especially if you would like to make your eyebrows bright and graphic.

Problem: I want to do makeup with pink eye shadow, but there isn’t any

Use cool shades of blush.

Problem: I was given powder and it is much darker than my skin tone

It will come in handy as a bronzer. Apply a small amount to the prominent areas of the face (forehead, nose and cheekbones) to create a light tan effect.

Problem: I ran out of eyeliner while on vacation, but urgently need to draw arrows

One day, famous American makeup artist Bobbi Brown was going to meet with journalists, but she didn’t have any eyeliner at hand. But Bobbi was not at a loss and lined her eyes with mascara. That's exactly how it appeared gel eyeliner: Bobbie loved the texture of the mascara on her eyelids and decided to create an eyeliner that would be just as easy to apply. The moral of the story is simple - draw arrows with ink!

Problem: Do you want to give your face a more rested look, but you only have lipstick in your makeup bag?

Apply it not only to your lips, but also to the apples of your cheeks and blend well - your face will immediately look more youthful and rested, and the shades on your cheeks and lips will blend perfectly.

Now there are many types of powder on the cosmetic market. In this article we will explain how they differ from each other, what skin types they are suitable for and how to use them correctly.

What is powder used for?

The ideal palette for contouring the face should consist of 4 shades.

  • Setting makeup. Absolutely any powder performs such functions when applied to Foundation, it can be compact or crumbly, transparent or tinted.
  • Matting. Here the powders may differ. The following powders have matting properties: talc, zinc dioxide, quartz, corn starch, polymer particles. They control the secretion of sebum on the surface of the skin. Powder for problem skin dries out inflammation and has a bactericidal effect. It can be either a transparent powder or a leveling powder.
  • Even out skin tone - foundation powder. Compact face powder works best to even out skin. Such powders are most often talc-based (this provides a soft, creamy feel when applied) and contain a lot of color pigment. But there are also loose powders that have the same properties.
  • Giving the skin radiance. The shimmering powder has a polymer base and has a light tinting effect. Contains very small reflective particles that scatter light and visually even out the surface of the skin. Illuminating powder reduces visibility facial wrinkles, gives the skin a fresh and rested look, works great on aging and dry skin. Photoshop function in real life. Not recommended for oily skin with enlarged pores.

Types of face powder

Cream powder

This is the most the best option powders for dry skin. Cream powders contain wax or mineral oils; they are heated by heat, smooth out the skin texture and nourish. This format refers more to tonal products. If you don’t want to use liquid foundation, but just powder is not enough for you, choose cream powder. You can control the coating density. When applied with a dense synthetic brush, the coating will be denser, and with a damp Pro Sponge it will be translucent. Cream powder can be applied as a concealer to the area around the eyes. And also, it does not require powdering, because... already has a matte finish.

Loose powder

Now many powders are duplicated in compact and loose form. Loose face powder always has a lighter texture and provides maximum sheer coverage. The masking ability can vary: from transparent to the densest. For example, loose mineral powder can cover all imperfections on the skin, like a thick foundation. It is best suited for setting concealer in the eye area. Choose her for home use, secure the finished makeup with a light veil, but it’s not very functional for a handbag. It is better to have a compact analogue for such cases. The INGLOT line includes 5 types of loose powder with different effects for any skin type.

Mattifying powder

Owners should choose it oily skin, which is characterized by the presence of enlarged pores and increased sebum secretion. Matte powder not only has a decorative effect, but also dries out inflammation and prevents its development. Powder microspheres do not clog pores, but trap excess sebum and absorb it. Thus, the durability and matte finish of the makeup is prolonged. Recommended powders for oily skin INGLOT: 3S (transparent, compact and loose, Translucent (transparent, loose, drying) and YSM (compact, evens out skin tone well).

Compact powder

It will always be slightly denser than its crumbly counterpart, because... has a lamellar texture. But, it is convenient to carry it with you and update your makeup, covering minor imperfections on the face. Many compact powders contain oils to prevent skin dehydration and soften it. At INGLOT you can find any powder in a compact form: classic, transparent (3S), drying (YSM) and radiant (HD).

Transparent powder

Transparent powder does not give a tint to the skin; most often it is white powder; professional makeup artists call it transparent (adjusts to any skin color). It is designed to fix makeup when you have already applied foundation and concealer. Reduces the appearance of pores and instantly mattifies. Meet transparent powders banana, pink or green shades. They are intended for light color correction if the skin is prone to redness, but such powder does not have masking ability. INGLOT has 2 transparent powders: 3S - suitable for all skin types, it can even be used as a base for foundation, and Translucent - suitable only for the oiliest skin and applied only to the T-zone.

Bronzing powder

It can be dark powder, with shine or matte, but always with a warm golden undertone. Bronzing powder is more of a color product like blush. Gives the skin a light tan, freshness, and slightly sculpts. It goes on in a very light transparent layer. Apply with the fluffiest brush with long bristles to all prominent areas of the face that are primarily susceptible to tanning (forehead, cheekbones, cheeks, chin, nose, ears, neck). If you are in a hurry or do not like heavy layers of makeup, tanning powder will be enough.

How to choose face powder?

  • Decide on the texture of the powder. It depends on what action you expect from the powder (see above).
  • If you wear foundation every day, then a clear setting powder will be enough for you. If you like to update your makeup with powder throughout the day, choose compact tinted powder; it will disguise minor imperfections on the skin.
  • Determine your skin type. If it is dry or dehydrated, make sure that the powder does not contain drying ingredients such as quartz or zinc. It is advisable that the powder contains oils and vitamins that will not increase dehydration.
  • If you're choosing a powder foundation, it's best to choose a color that's a little lighter rather than darker. Remember, under the influence of sebum and heat, powders tend to oxidize (darken). Apply a small amount with your finger to the center of your forehead. If the color matches your skin color, the powder is yours.
  • When purchasing, do not choose powder based on your hand. Ask a consultant to apply it to your face and check what happens to your skin after 3-4 hours. Good powder should not emphasize the texture of the skin or overdry it.

How to properly apply powder to your face?

  • After applying foundation and concealers, wait 5 minutes for the creamy textures to adapt to the skin.
  • Apply powder with your largest fluffy, long-bristled brush. This will give the lightest possible coverage.
  • It is recommended to apply shining powders with circular polishing movements, and mattifying ones – with slapping and driving movements.
  • If you have dehydrated areas on your face (cheeks, for example), do not apply mattifying powder to them. Powder is needed only where oily shine appears and makeup needs to be fixed. Avoid applying excess powder to the eye area.
  • Before touching up your makeup with compact powder, be sure to use mattifying wipes. They gently absorb excess sebum without damaging makeup. Only then apply powder. The sponge or puff that goes with the powder applies it quite tightly, and sometimes in spots. For such situations, it is better to get a small travel brush for powder and blush.

Many of you have been faced with a choice: Powder or foundation - which is better?

Experts' answer: foundation, of course. Moreover, there is an endless number of textures on the market: from the lightest moisturizing lotions with a tinting effect to the densest ones. But! The presence of any foundation does not exclude the use of powder as a finishing touch, which is no less important. This will affect how long your skin stays matte, how your makeup lasts, and how it looks in photos.

Also, your choice may depend on the season and skin condition.

For example, in the summer, many girls prefer powder, because almost everyone has oily skin. During this period, it is enough to locally use a cream concealer, SPF base and powder.

In winter and during transition periods, our skin experiences stress from temperature changes and becomes prone to dryness. In this case, give preference to liquid and cream textures, and only use powder to perfect your makeup.

If you still prefer only powder, then pay Special attention nourishing skin care and skin preparation for makeup. Use color-correcting and moisturizing bases, apply cream concealers locally.

As we age, our skin tends to become dry, to varying degrees for everyone, but it does happen. The drier your skin, the less powder you use. If you have almost no oily shine during the day, it is better to give up powders altogether and opt for nourishing foundations with a satin effect. Matte skin and lifting makeup are incompatible concepts))
