How to choose a shampoo for your hair type? Rating of my favorites. What is mild shampoo and who is it suitable for? What shampoo to buy, what are user groups?

Hello, dear hair maniacs!!!

My scalp has always been oily, prone to dandruff, and I was absolutely inept in choosing a cleanser, so here it is. oily skin my head also became very sensitive, irritated, and it finally dawned on me that it was time to change something!
After another unsuccessful purchase in the form of shampoo, I was overcome by real despair.
My hair fell out, my skin became much more oily... that’s when I started thinking about buying shampoo with a neutral pH.
WHAT IS A NEUTRAL pH SHAMPOO?

Products with a pH value within 7 are called neutral. They are the most common and quite effective.
Such shampoos can provide your hair with the necessary care, help avoid dryness and brittleness, and saturate your curls with useful substances.

Unfortunately, we cannot determine exactly what specific pH level is acceptable for our strands.
You can achieve the desired result only through trial and error, constantly updating your supplies of detergents.

It was through testing that I found several ideal shampoos that do not dry out the scalp and the hair itself.

As a result, oily scalp became less oily.
Did I expect my scalp to be capable of this? No!
Then, in the state of a person beginning to care for hair, this became a real discovery.
Now, proper cleansing is my first cure for dandruff, dryness, and excessive oiliness.

Let's move on to the immediate heroes of this post...

1. My first soft shampoo LADOR Damaged Protector Acid Shampoo 150ml

"Hair and scalp care products from Lador– these are professional lines that combine the traditions of oriental medicine with the advanced developments of Korean scientists. First of all, Lador products are intended for damaged hair. The innovative formula of the products recreates the original integrity of the hair, helps restore the hydrolipidic membrane of the hair shafts, which serves as a natural protection healthy hair
“Sulfate-free shampoo with argan oil is designed to care for dry and damaged hair and will help improve the condition of dull and weakened hair. The shampoo cleanses the scalp and hair well of impurities, and also heals and rejuvenates them day after day.
Argan oil has an intense nourishing and moisturizing effect, moisturizes the scalp, promotes its regeneration and eliminates dandruff, restores hair structure, stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss, eliminates split ends, and protects against harmful ultraviolet rays.
Shampoo with a pH balance of 4.5 can be used for daily use, while maintaining the durability of the color of dyed hair.
With regular use of shampoo with argan oil, hair becomes strong and elastic, smooth, shiny and silky.”
Mode of application: Apply shampoo to damp hair, lather and massage, then rinse with warm water.

Of course, this shampoo will not eliminate split ends, I’m also not sure about “rejuvenation”, BUT Shampoo cleanses efficiently and gently - fact!
It foams, weakly, but it foams!
After using the shampoo, even during the process of rinsing it off, you feel that same impeccable softness.
The hair is absolutely not tangled and lies smooth when dry, even without the use of additional care products.

2. Shampoo Crioxidil Neutral Shampoo- Herbal shampoo 1000 ml.

"Crioxidil This is a brand of the Spanish holding company - VMV Cosmetic Group, created in the early 90s. Today he uses advanced technologies and drugs that are the result of the work of his own laboratories."
Neutral herbal shampoo contains a variety of herbal extracts (sage, lemon balm, rosemary, witch hazel) that provide excellent care for hair and scalp.
The shampoo has a neutral pH of 5.5.
Recommended for frequent use.

Feelings after use:
The first thing I felt when opening the cap of the shampoo was an amazingly natural herbal aroma, lovers will appreciate it!
The shampoo is SULFATE, but rinses quite gently due to its neutral pH.
Foams well, has a gel consistency and an advantageous volume.
There should be no negative reactions after use.

3. Lisap Hydra Care Nourishing Shampoo

"Shampoo for deep nutrition and moisturizing, gently cares for hair and gently cleanses it. An innovative formula with a low pH level based on papyrus extract, wakame, and Hydra Care Complex allows you to intensively nourish and restore damaged areas of the hair structure, restoring strength, elasticity, silkiness and shine to dry and brittle hair. The formula does not contain parabens, dyes or sulfates.”
Mode of application: Apply a small amount of shampoo to damp hair, massage gently, rinse with water.
Repeat application of shampoo.
Feelings after use:
At the moment, this shampoo is my favorite in all respects.
It is after it that I get a feeling of very fresh scalp, softness and smoothness of the canvas, it is great for use on on a daily basis, does not over-feed the hair, although in the description you can see the phrase: “for deep nutrition.”
The first time you apply it, it foams very weakly, but the second time you lather it up, it gets better.
And has a delicate, subtle aroma.

4. REFRESHING AND CLEANSING SHAMPOO GREEN TEA The Body Shop

“A mild shampoo for the care of normal hair and scalp.
Perfectly cleanses hair, fills it with energy and restores healthy shine.
The tea leaf extract from Japan that is part of the composition gives the skin an incredible feeling of freshness.”

Feelings after use:
If you love green tea like I do, then you should try this shampoo if only for the aroma of real fresh green tea.
Well, of course, for its cleansing properties!
It copes with its task perfectly and at the same time really refreshes the scalp.
Foams well and is not drying at all.

With the transition to mild shampoos, regardless of the presence of sulfates in them, I began to wash my hair less often than with shampoos intended for oily skin.
This happens due to the fact that mild shampoos do not dry out the skin and the sebaceous glands, in defense, do not begin to secrete even more sebum.
Previously, I washed my hair every day and by the evening it already required a new wash, but now I can afford to wash my hair every 2-3 days, and this is great for oily skin types.

The word “soft” itself can mean completely different things to different people. Some people believe that a “mild shampoo” is one that does not irritate the skin. Some people prefer the definition of softness as a “tear-free” product. There are opinions that “a mild shampoo is a product that softens the hair so well that you don’t need conditioner after it,” or a mild shampoo is a product with a neutral pH level. There really are a lot of explanations. But what do experts mean by this concept?

Soft means safe

All of the above ideas are true to some extent. The mild shampoo really does not irritate and softens. But there are also specific signs by which shampoo is classified as “mild”.

Mild shampoos should not contain the following ingredients:

Fragrances, fragrances (these ingredients lead to dryness and irritation);

Preservatives such as phthalates and parabens;

Surfactants such as lauryl sulfates and (lauryl sulfate, Laureth sulfate).

Surfactants (surfactants) are needed to increase the foaminess of the shampoo. Pay attention to surfactants such as lauryl sulfates and laureth sulfates. If they are present, they should be in the list of ingredients as close to the end as possible (this means that they are contained in small quantities), or absent altogether, then the shampoo can be classified as “mild”.

The foam gives a pleasant sensation, and many people like it. But there is a misconception about what exactly big foam means good cleansing. Shampoos don't need foam to start working. In addition, there are softer surfactants. If you know how to read product labels, here is a list of soft surfactants:

Nonionic: sorbitol esters - any substances with the name tween (for example, tween-20, tween-80), as well as polyglyceryl ethers.

Amphoteric: betaines, alkyl imidazoline, alkyl amino acids.

The action of soft surfactants is more delicate, but for normal and oily hair these surfactants may be completely ineffective in cleansing.

Another sign that indicates the softness of the shampoo is pH neutrality. If this is indicated by the manufacturer, then this indicator can be a good addition to the characteristics of a mild shampoo listed above.

Who needs a mild shampoo?

In general, it is desirable that every woman has a mild shampoo. It may be needed on vacation, in the first week after, under some other circumstances. But there are those of us for whom this product is a must-have product.

Firstly, this is everyone who suffers from very sensitive scalp. This may be indicated by itching and other allergic reactions after regular shampoos. The mild shampoo does not contain ingredients that irritate the skin, so it is not dangerous for sensitive skin.

The second category of women who only need a mild shampoo are those who suffer from very low levels of their own sebum and oil production. To put it simply, women with very dry scalps. And most often, these are people with dry skin all over their body.

Thirdly, a mild shampoo is indicated for people with any scalp diseases (seborrhea, psoriasis, eczema, etc.) or with temporary damage to the scalp (for example, sunburn).

If the hair is normal or oily, as well as thick and thick, a mild shampoo most often does not cope with the task of thorough cleansing. There is also an opinion that if the hair is not exposed harmful effects environment, then you can also forget about mild shampoo.

My new mild shampoo

If you want to try a mild shampoo on your hair, then you have several options:

1) Use . Absolutely all means for child care– these are soft products without sulfates, parabens, fragrances and dyes.

2) Buy a finished product. Typically, mild shampoos are produced by organic or eco-friendly cosmetics brands. Also, shampoos for dry hair are generally soft products, as they do not have harsh surfactants or fragrances.

3) Make your own mild shampoo. Method one, and the simplest: dilute regular shampoo with water (1:1), this will concentrate harmful substances less intense. The second method: make a new mild shampoo based on baby or herbal, adding the necessary essential oil(for example, rosemary oil stimulates hair growth and strengthens roots, eucalyptus oil helps remove dandruff flakes, lavender oil soothes and cleanses, peppermint oil invigorates, and rose and orange oils improve the aroma of shampoo). Add 10 drops for every 100 ml of product. And the third method of preparing your own mild shampoo is suitable for those who love homemade cosmetics. To do this, you should make your composition based on Castile liquid soap, water and essential oils.

The phrase “mild shampoo” is now often used in articles and recommendations, but, as we see, this is not a mass product. It only helps in certain cases.

Thick, shiny and well-groomed hair provides not only an attractive appearance, but is also an indicator of a healthy body. To create and maintain luxurious and healthy hair, you certainly need regular care. Despite the fact that manufacturers of cosmetic products produce all kinds of masks, balms, tinctures and other hair care products, the main and main product is shampoo. Shampoos are recognized to cleanse not only the hair, but also the scalp. A properly selected high-quality shampoo can make curls voluminous, smooth and silky, as well as add strength and shine to even the most unhealthy and dull hair.

So, how to choose the right shampoo in order to enjoy tangible results in the future?

First, when choosing a shampoo, choose those that use natural organic plant extracts as washing ingredients, since this composition will help get rid of various problems with the scalp and will have a healing effect on it. Well, accordingly, you need to choose shampoo according to your hair type.

It is also necessary to carefully study its composition to avoid undesirable consequences.

Products containing surfactants dry out the scalp, and therefore the less of them in the shampoo, the better. Also pay attention to the pH level, which should be identical to the pH of the scalp.

On a note!

For oily hair it is 6-7, for normal hair it is 5-5.5, and for dry hair it is 4.

You can search for your ideal shampoo for years, and you need to focus on the needs of the hair and scalp (its health directly affects the condition of the strands). In fear of drying out their skin (or getting into a vicious circle and starting to wash their hair even more often), many refuse to wash their hair daily and suffer from increased oiliness and an unkempt appearance. However, fear is not justified.

Armen Zakharyan, celebrity stylist at Barber Z salon and Kérastase expert, advises: “Talking about making your hair less dirty is an old myth. Modern shampoos, thanks to their high-quality formulas, delicately cleanse the scalp, so they can be used daily. The main thing is to choose soft products with neutral pH. Twice a week (no more often) use clarifying shampoos and exfoliating shampoos - they will more thoroughly and deeply cleanse the scalp from.”

In the summer, when you don't wear hats and are often in rooms with central heating, you can wash your hair less often. However, if you have oily hair, wash as needed. And be sure to use a mild cleansing shampoo after the pool or - salt and bleach must be washed off.

“When choosing a shampoo, focus on its composition,” advises Armen. - In hot weather, look for products with uva/uvb protection (yes, sunscreen shampoos are not uncommon), they will cover the strands with an invisible thin film, protecting them from the sun. And in winter, look for nourishing oils in the formula.”

FOR SUMMER

  • Kérastase, after-sun bath shampoo Après Soleil, RUB 2,190.

The shampoo deeply moisturizes the hair and saves it from the effects of vacation - drying out due to the sun and salt water. Bonus - if you have, the shampoo will retain the color.

  • L’Oréal Professionnel, After Sun Nourishing Solar Sublime shampoo, about 900 rub.

The same sunscreen shampoo that will not only deeply moisturize the strands, but also prevent ultraviolet radiation from penetrating the hair shaft.

FOR NORMAL HAIR

  • Dove, shampoo and conditioner 2 in 1 “Basic care”, about 200 rub.

The moisturizing complex in the composition allows you to use the shampoo every day. Smoothes and nourishes strands, giving them softness.

  • L’Oréal Paris, Botanicals “Lavender” shampoo, about 600 rubles.

Lavender essential oils, as well as coconut and soybean oils, delicately cleanse hair while moisturizing and nourishing it along its entire length. Ideal for those who wash their hair in the evening - the aroma of lavender instantly relaxes.

FOR DRY AND DAMAGED HAIR

  • Kiehl’s, Olive Fruit Oil nourishing shampoo, RUB 1,550.

Creamy shampoo is enriched with olive oil - due to this, it deeply nourishes and restores dry strands tired of constant styling. The hair becomes soft and manageable - and does not tangle even under the pressure of a strong wind.

  • OGX, Coconut Milk shampoo, RUB 495.

Nourishing thick shampoo contains coconut milk and oil, as well as egg white protein. Thoroughly nourishes dry and damaged hair and imparts a tropical coconut scent.

FOR OILY HAIR

  • Wella Professionals, Aqua Pure shampoo, about 500 rub.

The lotus extract in the composition is responsible for moisturizing the hair. At the same time, the shampoo perfectly cleanses strands of styling residues and impurities and allows you to prolong the feeling of freshness.

  • Honey Bunny, shampoo with fruit acids, 700 rub.

It contains almond extract, vitamin B5 and fruit acids, which smooth, soften hair and at the same time gently but thoroughly cleanse it. The shampoo is suitable for daily use, especially for those with oily hair, as it balances the work of the sebaceous glands of the scalp.

And today I decided to dwell in more detail on how to choose a hair shampoo and what factors to pay attention to first.

To help myself, I took a book from a specialist in the field of hair care, trichologist S. Galtseva.

Hair shampoo - rules of choice

Shampoo is one of the main and most common hair care products. The word is an indirect English borrowing from Hindi, like “champa” - the name of a flower growing in India, from which oil is made for rubbing into hair

Shampoo is one of the most important products responsible for the beauty and health of our hair.

No masks, foams, or balms will cope with damaged hair if you use bad shampoo.

An incorrectly selected shampoo can greatly harm your hair and scalp, worsening its appearance and internal condition.

Why do you need shampoo?

The main purpose of shampoo is to remove excess oil, wash the scalp, and also remove static electricity from the hair.

Types of shampoo:

  1. Shampoos come in consistency: liquid and concentrated - creamy.
  2. Shampoos can be for dry (softening), oily (astringent, seborrheic) and normal hair.
  3. According to their intended purpose, shampoos can be medicinal (with mild and normal acidity) and technical acidic for colored hair and hair after perm.

When choosing a shampoo, it is very important to take this factor into account.

For example, if you have dry hair and start using shampoo for oily hair, you will remove all that natural fat, without which the normal condition of the hair is impossible, which it already lacks.

You will dry out your scalp and make your hair very fragile, brittle, disrupt the pH of your scalp and subsequently struggle with increased oiliness.

What may be included in shampoo?

The composition of shampoo can have a huge number of different components.

But only one plays the most important role - the detergent base of the shampoo (surfactant). The condition of your hair will depend on this component!!!

Therefore, when choosing a shampoo, pay close attention to this component.

The most harmful bases in shampoos

Surely, many already know that most industrial shampoos that fill the shelves of our stores contain very harmful components:

(SLS) -Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, TEA Layril Sulfate, TEA Laureth Sulfate, etc.

These foaming agents are very harsh chemicals, they do not have a true cleansing effect, they are very destructive to keratin (the protein that forms the base of the hair) and disrupt the natural pH of the scalp.

Usually, after using such a shampoo, the hair becomes excessively “fluffy”, the first sign that the shampoo has damaged the hair scales and made its shaft accessible to dirt and bacteria.

All this leads to rapid hair contamination, hair loss and thinning, and the appearance of split ends.

Gentle surfactants

These include:

  • TEA Layril Sulfate (Triethanolamine Lauryl Sulfate)
  • TEA (Triethanolamine)
  • Cocamide D.E.A.
  • DEA-Cetyl phosphate
  • DEA Oleth-3 phosphate
  • Myristamide DEA, Stearamide MEA
  • Cocamide MEA, Lauramide DEA
  • Linoleamide MEA
  • Oleamide DEA
  • TEA-Lauryl Sulfate
  • Sodium Myreth Sulfate and sodium myristyl ether sulfate
  • Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate
  • Magnesium Laureth Sulfate
  • Coco Glucoside
  • Sodium Myreth Sulfate and sodium myristyl ether sulfate

The best and safest surfactants

These are all soft organic bases:

  • Cocoamidopropyl Betaine
  • Decyl Glucoside or decyl polyglucose
  • Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate
  • Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate
  • Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate

As a rule, such shampoos are difficult to find in regular household chemical stores. You need to look for them in organic or professional cosmetics stores.

Also, high-quality shampoos should not contain parabens (preservatives) and silicones, DEA, substances that, when used for a long time, cause permanent destruction of the hair structure and are very toxic to our body.

The cost of such shampoos will be much higher, but the health and beauty of your hair is worth it!

Useless shampoo ingredients

In addition to foaming detergent base, shampoos may contain various components (antioxidants, vitamins, herbal extracts, fruit acids, pearl dust, collagen).

Most of them are absolutely useless for our hair and are added to shampoo only to increase its cost.

For more details about this, be sure to read this.

Conclusion - how to choose the right shampoo?

So, to choose the right shampoo, you need to decide:

  1. With your hair type and choose a shampoo that matches your hair type
  2. View the composition of the shampoo by focusing Special attention its base and give preference to those that contain a soft organic base.

Remember that a high-quality shampoo should not contain SLS, DTA, silicones, parabens, and the more natural organic components it contains, the safer and better the effect of its use will be.

For myself, I have identified several well-known organic brands of shampoos, which contain safe organic bases and only useful high-quality ingredients.

Good manufacturers of shampoos with soft bases

To the brief description of each of these bases, I have added a link to a suitable shampoo that contains it.

  • Cocoamidopropyl Betaine is a very soft and low-allergenic surfactant. Produced from fatty acids of coconut oil. Contained in many shampoos of the company Jason Natural
  • Decyl Glucoside or decyl polyglucose is a mild surfactant consisting of glucose obtained from corn starch and coconut fatty acids. The company makes its famous shampoos on this basis. Avalon Organics And Biotene H-24s

  • Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is a natural surfactant obtained by reacting coconut and palm oil with sugar and starch. A popular base for children's shampoos, contained in products BabySpa

  • Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate is a natural, mild, safe surfactant obtained from sarcosine, a natural amino acid found in vegetables and fruits. It does not irritate the skin at all, perfectly cares for hair and restores its structure. This basis is present in organic shampoos companies Alba Botanica

Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate is a surfactant with a mild dermatological effect, often used in children's shampoos and shampoos for sensitive scalps. Shampoos on this basis are represented by the brand Nature's Gate

How to use shampoo correctly?

But buying the right shampoo is only half the battle; it is very important to use it correctly:

  1. You should always leave shampoo on your hair for at least five minutes!!!
  2. This is necessary so that the detergent components of the shampoo break down all the fat and dirt on the surface of the scalp and hair, and its therapeutic components show their beneficial effects.
  3. To do this, you need to wet your hair, squeeze a small amount of shampoo into your palm, beat it in your palms and apply it to your hair in a circular motion from the frontal part to the ends of your hair, foaming.
  4. Rinse your hair with warm water and apply another portion of shampoo. Massage your scalp well again for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water until your hair squeaks and wring out your hair.
  6. Dry in a natural way and under no circumstances comb your hair while wet!

I hope this information will help you choose your right, healthy and most importantly, safe shampoo!

I wish you beautiful and healthy hair!
