Very soon a New Year's feast awaits us all. Many housewives are already thinking about how to beautifully decorate the New Year's table. Still New Year- a special holiday, and you want to celebrate it in a special, beautiful way. Even ordinary napkins can contribute to the decoration of the New Year's table, they just need to be folded beautifully. At first glance, this may seem difficult to do. But you just have to try it once and you will see how simple and fast it is. Today I will show you some ideas on how you can beautifully fold napkins in the form of a Christmas tree, a candle and a cockscomb.

An original folded napkin can give even a modest table a festive look. Folding napkins is a real art, but this does not mean that any housewife cannot master it. Quite the contrary, this art is within the power of everyone, and today you will see this.

There are many ways to fold napkins. What bizarre shapes they can be transformed into! But today I will show you only a few of them, namely those that are most suitable for decorating the New Year's table.

How to fold napkins into a Christmas tree shape

A Christmas tree is a necessary attribute of the New Year, and napkins folded in the shape of a Christmas tree will look very appropriate on the New Year's table.

I will offer you 3 options for folding napkins in the form of a Christmas tree.

I would like to note right away that any napkins will do - both paper and fabric. Only the napkins should be square.

I think plain green napkins would look best since that's the color of the natural tree. But, in principle, any others that you have in your home will do.

I didn’t have green ones, so I’m showing the principle of folding on red paper napkins.

Napkin in the form of a Christmas tree No. 1

1 - 3. Fold the napkin in half, then in half again. The result is a square.

4 - 7. Now you need to bend each layer of the napkin in turn with an equal distance from each other.

  1. Turn it over to the other side and bend the side ends towards the middle.
  2. Turn the napkin back over.

  1. Take the top corner, pull it out a little and bend it up. This will be the top of the tree.
  2. We bend the second corner and slip it under the base of the upper triangle.

12 - 13. We do the same with the remaining three layers.

The result is a three-dimensional Christmas tree made from a napkin. These Christmas trees can be placed on every plate for guests.

You can also put some kind of decoration or bow on the top of each Christmas tree - it will become very elegant! I’m sure every guest’s mood will immediately lift!

In the photo I also showed options for such a Christmas tree made from a fabric napkin:

Napkin in the shape of a Christmas tree No. 2

The next option is to fold a napkin in the shape of a Christmas tree. This method is more suitable for a paper napkin.

To be honest, it is quite difficult to explain in words what needs to be done. The best thing to do is look at the pictures and do the same. At least I didn't have any difficulties.

  1. Fold the square napkin in half. You will get an elongated rectangle.

2 - 4. From the upper half of this rectangle we will make a triangle, the vertex of which should be in the middle of the upper side of the rectangle:

  1. Fold the bottom of the rectangle at a distance of 2-3 cm from the middle and place it on the top.
  2. Take the napkin by the lower right corner and fold it towards the middle. Smooth out the resulting triangle at the top.
  3. Fold the bottom left edge of the napkin in the same way.
  4. Turn over.

The napkin is folded into shape triangular herringbone with a barrel. These Christmas tree napkins will also look very cool laid out on plates.

Napkin-Christmas tree No. 3

The third Christmas tree will be folded so that it can stand on a table or plate. This method is suitable for both paper and fabric napkins.

The beginning will be the same as in the case of Christmas tree No. 1.

  1. Fold the square napkin in half, and then in half again.
  2. We turn the three upper corners so that they are at the same distance from each other.
  3. Fold the napkin in half diagonally.
  4. We secure it at the bottom with a paper clip.
  5. We bend the base from below so that the Christmas tree stands straighter. You can decorate if desired.

New Year is a night holiday, so candles are another attribute of it. Now I'll show you 3 simple ways folding napkins in the form of a candle.

How to fold napkins into a candle shape

Candle in a glass

A napkin in the shape of a candle in a glass on a festive table looks very elegant, and, meanwhile, folding it is just very, very simple! And quickly, in just a few seconds! Look here:

  1. Fold the square napkin diagonally.
  2. We begin to twist the resulting triangle from the longest side.
  3. Roll until the very end.
  4. We fold the resulting roller so that one part is higher than the other.
  5. Place into a glass.

Such a candle in a glass can be made perfectly from any napkins - fabric and paper, plain or colored.

Napkin - candle No. 2

The second option for folding a napkin into a candle is also very simple.

  1. Fold along the long bottom side 3 cm and turn over.
  2. Roll the napkin into a tube. Secure the tip by slipping it into a rolled roll.

Napkin - candle No. 3

The third option for a napkin candle is no less simple. See for yourself:

  1. Fold the napkin diagonally.
  2. Take the top corner and fold it 2 times so that the fold coincides with the bottom edge.
  3. Bend the left corner up (it will be the candle flame).
  4. Roll the napkin tightly. Secure the tip by sliding it under the base of the candle.

Napkin in the shape of a rooster's comb

Since the new year 2017 will be the year of the red fiery rooster, it will be relevant to see a rooster on the New Year's table. Why not assign this role to originally folded napkins? The guests will be surprised!

True, we will not be folding the rooster itself, but the cockscomb. But this, in my opinion, is not so important, because there will still be an association with a rooster.

At first glance, it may seem that folding such a structure from a napkin is quite difficult. But this is a misleading impression. It looks complicated, but is quite simple to do. That's the beauty of it, right?

  1. Fold the square napkin into quarters.
  2. Fold the resulting square diagonally.

3 - 4. Fold the left and then the right corner so that they meet in the center of the triangle.

  1. Bend the lower ends extending beyond the bottom edge of the folded napkin back.
  2. Fold the triangle in half with the cut side facing up.
  3. One by one, pull up the triangular tabs, bending them slightly back.

To prevent the structure from coming apart, you can fasten it from below with a paper clip, or another option is to starch a napkin. A napkin folded from paper does not need to be fastened.

This is how you can fold napkins in an original and beautiful way and thereby decorate your festive New Year's table. Try it! It's really not difficult at all.

You can decorate the New Year's table using decoration of holiday dishes.

How to fold napkins to decorate a New Year's table with a "Herringbone" pattern

Traditionally, the Christmas tree is a symbol of every New Year. Without it, the holiday will not be complete, and the smell in the house will not give you childhood memories.

You should start decorating the table with napkins in advance. You must be calm and approach this process with love.

If you come home from work and start trying to fold napkins, you will probably end up with something that is not quite what you expected.

For a Christmas tree made from napkins, we need to take paper or cloth napkins. Colors may be different, but it is better, of course, to give preference to green.

If the napkin is fabric, then you need to fold it into a square and iron it.

Then we take and unfold each layer in the form of a triangle, leaving 1 cm from the top.

You will get 5 folds.

We insert each end of the layer into each other and decorate with a bow, star or Christmas tree decoration.

We bend the third layer - the top.

The third way to fold a napkin into a herringbone pattern is very simple. Take a napkin and fold it into an accordion.

Secure the top with a ribbon or bow and straighten the accordion slightly. Fast, beautiful and New Year's.

There is a fourth way to fold a napkin on the New Year's table. I cannot describe it, because it is made using the origami technique; it is better for you to repeat the drawing yourself.

The fifth way to decorate the New Year's table with napkins is also not difficult.

Take a paper napkin and make a rectangle out of it (just fold out half of the square).

Aligning with the center of the rectangle, fold the triangle, bending small cones.

The sixth option provides for the presence of only napkins, which we roll into a tube.

We cut out a Christmas tree from colored paper and tie it with ribbon or sew it with thread.

Not a single New Year is complete without Santa Claus. This grandfather brings joy not only to children, but also to adults.

Bend the side edges into two large triangles in the center, so that you get a small triangle on top.

We bend the end of the folded large triangle once and bend it again in the opposite direction.

From the last triangle we make a strip and wrap the edges behind the Santa Claus base.

We draw two eyes with a felt-tip pen and you can safely decorate the New Year’s table with such beauty.

Nowadays there are a lot of different dishes, which you can choose yourself according to your taste.

How to fold a napkin for the New Year “Star”

Stars are no less relevant than Santa Claus and the Christmas tree, so I think that making a star out of a napkin will be very useful.

For this we need:

  • napkins;
  • wire;
  • scissors.

Open the napkin and fold it like this:

We turn it 90 degrees and again fold the 2 outer edges towards the center.

We repeat the same thing again, and then fold the resulting rectangle in half along the center.

It turns out a rectangular strip that we need to expand.

We fold the napkin into an accordion along the remaining fold lines and unfold it again.

Once again into the accordion, but in the other direction, but along the fold line.
